Issue #04, April 2016
Welcome to Oi Moments, Issue #4. We hope you all had a wonderful summer break!
The New Academic Session 2016-17 commenced at Oi playschool centers with welcoming the tiny tots into the next leap of their academic journey. These little individuals were seen gradually getting acclimatized to their new classrooms, teachers, and friends and of course beginning to acquire a new skill. This welcoming was indeed essential to make them school-ready!
The initial experiences of the toddlers outside there are crucially essential. An inspiring environment can harvest their energies and channelize them into learnings for a lifetime. To give them exactly this, we aim at providing an experiential learning environment where they enjoy exciting playtimes, creative new experiences and understand that school is fun.
The fact is 90% of the brain development happens in the first 2000 days of a child’s life. During this time, every experience and interaction the child goes through results in the formation of connections in the brain, which ultimately builds its structure. Hence, experiences they have during this period plays a significant role in building a strong foundation for their future. At Oi Playschool, the curriculum and teaching methodology has been designed based on this very research.
Keeping you posted :
It was a proud moment for Oi Playschool as Pooja Mithra; director of Oi Playschool Banjara Hills was featured in the recent issue of TULIP Magazine.

During summer breaks when children run out of avenues to spend their energy, what’s more amazing to see children expending their energy creatively. Summer camps are all about trying hands-on creative activities, trying new things while playing, learning and growing. Oi Summer Explorer provided a good physical exploration to the campers which allowed the children to experience the real summer learning in a well-supervised and structured environment. Watch out the Camp Connection!
Camp A: Story telling
Oi Playschool Panjagutta and Coffee Board Layout kids participated in story enacting sessions during the Camp Story week. Kids thoroughly enjoyed the role-play led by teachers. Panjagutta kids enacted the story ‘’Jack and the Beanstalk’’ while Coffee Board Layout did a role-play for Goldilocks and the Three Bears. Oi Kanakpura kids have been enjoying watching the visuals. On the other hand, Oi Playschool NR Colony and Banjara Hills kids used puppets to share the story telling fun. Most kids amused the teachers and other staff members with their wit and imagination. The objective of this camp was ably achieved as children were seen using their expressions and vocabulary during the session. Camp story telling provided an edge to their thinking capacity!
The week wasn’t just limited to storytelling; it included dance and food making activity also. Easy to make and child-friendly recipes were planned for these tiny ones. While the kids had fun the and relished their own-cooked food, it was satisfying to see them learn to follow instructions in an organized fashion and also the virtue of sharing! Little chefs of Oi Playschool Panjagutta and Coffee Board Layout tried hands on snack making during this week. Little Master Chefs prepared Monaco Crackers with toppings.
Camp B: Craft making
Craft strengthens motor skills and induces creativity in children. Craft week included origami, puppet making and craft work with papier mache. Origami and papier mache craft develops fine motor development, sequencing, symmetry, hand-eye co-ordination, and attention to details. Oi Playschool centres used simple yet innovative craft ideas to make the kids enjoy the activity. Kids were happy with the outcome and carried their craft-creations as a take away. It was amazing to see these tots independently doing the craft just on instructions alone of their teachers.
Oi Playschool Coffee Board Layout made beautiful turtle crafts using papier mache. The same craft was given a twist by Oi Manikonda. Here, the kids used macaroni to make vibrant turtles.
The campers loved Zumba dancing and freeze dance which were part of Camp Craft Week.
Camp C: Games
Games are a great way to develop muscles and it gives opportunities for social exposure. Various games were planned across Oi centres to equip the children with balancing and coordination skills.
Oi Playschool Chandanagar and Alwal added gymnastics to supplement the sport skills in kids. Yoga helps children relax, calm and unwind. So the kids get fit with friends! It was amazing to see kids ardent in learning yoga and displaying their flexible moves.
It’s a play day every day- games week! Oi Playschool Sahakar Nagar Campers went through an obstacle course during the Camp Games week. The kids had to jump into the loop, crawl like a spider under the hood and balance through the path. This was a fun way to cross the obstacles and prove to be a super hero. Campers showed off their camp spirit and were awarded points for winning.
During this week the campers also played water themed games such as Splish Splash Cup, a relay race to fill up water buckets and Water Balloon-Pop.
Camp D: Creative Art
At Oi, we encourage kids getting involved in art work that may be a bit messy but it provides opportunity for hands on creation, gaining fine motor skills, muscle control and strengthening eye-hand co-ordination. Children learn how to control paint brushes, crayons, scissors, and other art tools. For toddlers, it helps in advancing their writing skills.
Oi Playschool Alwal added magic to make the art session interesting for the kids. They tried Wet paper painting over the crayon scribbles. Kids were amused with this new style of art.
During the snack time at Oi Playschool Panjagutta, the children decided they would like to make chocolate bread and they participated eagerly in the entire process; from following the recipe to making the sandwiches. It was great to see the children working collaboratively, using their turn-taking skills and exercising patience while waiting for their turn.
Even with all the fun and laughter that was shared during these activities, little campers gained new skills, trying new things. At the end of the camp, all the kids were certified for their creative learning.
My first day into next grade
Kids were happily welcomed to next grades. Oi centres had set up delighting photo-booths with customised photo frames in order to capture family pictures of all kids. Kids were introduced to their new teachers and shown their new seats. Few of them were excited while a few didn’t want to leave their favourite toddler toys and classroom.
Preparing the global leaders
‘’We do not inherit the earth from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children’’
Earth day was the perfect day for Oi Playschool Coffee Board Layout to educate the kids about environment. They introduced the topic of Reuse, Recycle, and Reduce. After the briefing of the topics, kids were taken outside to plant trees.
A token of appreciation
At Oi, our parents are an effective partner in the development of children. Parents are associated with us through continuous interactions. As a token of appreciation, one of our happy parents (Parents of Shounak- Oi Playschool Gachibowli) sent lovely presents to the sub-staff and teachers. This expression of love and trust acknowledges the invaluable efforts Oi staff puts in towards the development of your kids.
Oi Playschool Nizampet organized a mini party for all lovely mothers of Oi family. Both parents and children relished the party. Profuse smiles on the faces of the mothers truly made the day indelible!
Outdoors, the mud kitchen and sandpit have proved extremely popular with the children busy cooking up all kinds of delicious muddy treats. Oi Playschool Kanakpura kids were let free to explore the mud kitchen. Kids made emoji and portrayed the same on their faces.
In a similar fashion, Dhanvi of Oi Playschool NR Colony enjoyed making emoji faces on balloons. It was more than joy to see the little one’s expressions.
Science right at the finger tip
Oi Playschool Sahakar Nagar children were given an opportunity to take a peek into little amazing world created by one of our associates. The world of science came alive for our campers. The children loved every bit of what they saw and explored and were in total awe.
Did you know that 25% of a kid's daily energy intake comes from snacking between meals?
Parents of toddlers often wonder if their kids are getting enough to eat. It's an understandable concern, and offering healthy snacks can help ensure that the answer is yes.
Most toddlers do well with three meals and two or three snacks a day —1 snack half-way between breakfast and lunch and 1 snack between lunch and dinner. Healthy well-timed snacks a day can balance out the uneven diet, keeping them from getting hungry and boost the nutrient intake your toddler needs.
When you make something, you get to control the ingredients and put in what's good for your child!
Here is a list of healthy snacks that you can prepare at home:
- A handful of almonds are great brain food. A handful serving of soaked almonds are a memory booster for your kids.
- Snack Mix (Toss together nuts, whole grain cereal and honey)
- Colorful fruit salad (slices of banana, grapes, apples and strawberries)
- Milk with honey or whole-grain cereals
- Fruit smoothie made with your child’s favourite fruit blended with milk
- Peanut butter banana bites (Cut banana into chunks and spread peanut butter all over)
- Home-made desserts such as custard or sponge cake
- Milk with cocoa powder and a banana
- Fruit-filled frozen popsicles (chop his preferred seasonal fruit and pour milkshake over it and freeze in popsicles)
- Popcorn or sweet corn
- Vegetables with hummus dip

See what Our Oi Parents had to say:
‘’A year ago, when we admitted Aarav into Oi, as a parent we had a lot of anxiety and apprehension on our decision of choosing the right school. Over time we had seen huge improvement in Aaarav. Thank you Oi for all your effort and patience. With your presence, we are rest assured that my son is in safe hands.’’
Parents of Aarav -Oi Manikonda
From the moment my daughter walked through the door, the place became HER school – a very special place, with things to explore, to touch, to discover. The teachers gently guided her in a group and individually, to the various areas of learning within the room. Our daughter’s path was guided by the most dedicated, loving and progressive teachers a parent could wish for. In this environment, she learnt to explore, to ask questions, to figure things out, all the while learning to be respectful of others. Here, she learnt to love learning.
We have truly enjoyed every experience with you and your teachers.Sending our daughter to OI Playschool Banjara hills has been the best educational decision my Wife and I have made. All that is left to say is thank you for 2 amazing years and memories you and your team have added to Zoya's Life”
